Halloween DIY: TERRORium

IMG_3936.JPG

We love Halloween and we love miniatures. This little project was made with the gathering of Halloween decor found around the house and the local dollar store. It took about 10 minutes to put together and is definitely a crowd pleaser.

First we gathered…and found:

moss

oversized plastic bugs

mini Halloween skull

plastic toy bear

black crinkle paper

assorted glittery pom poms

(not pictured here: wash tape, hot glue , large mason jar with lid, fake spider webbing, sticks)

Then we assembled.

Step 1: Using hot glue (adult supervision required), affix crinkle paper to the inside of the lid, leaving space around perimeter to allow it to be screwed to jar later. The lid will actually become the bottom of your terrarium.

Step 2: Glue stick to base to create height variation. Stick should be large enough to support weight of anything attached to it.

Step 3: String spider webbing to stick and hot glue spider.

Step 4: Continue to add objects to inside…less is more, and think about variety of size, texture, color, and overall spacing.

Step 5: Screw jar to lid and wrap decorative wash tape to cover the edge of the lid and where it attaches to the jar.

Step 6: Glue objects to top of jar…consider draping, overall aesthetic of the jar. You could make a sign to go on top.

Some other ideas…a teROARium filled with plastic dinosaurs or other roaring animals, twigs, rocks, crinkle paper…the possibilities really are endless.

Enjoy!
