Drawing and Sketch
Our Drawing and Sketch classes give children the confidence to draw with ease. We offer two different classes: Drawing (for children ages 9+) which utilizes all dry media and some ink and Sketch (for tweens and teens) which is all dry media. Projects vary from week to week in both classes.

Zoo Portraits
Medium: Mixed Media
Inspiration: Animal art by Yago Partal
Students referenced zoo portraits of Yago Partal to create their own animal drawings. Color was added through the use of dry media. Students enhanced their work through the creation of a patterned background.
Exploring Value
Medium: Mixed Media Pencil/Colored Pencil
Inspiration: Classical Portraiture vs. Modern Photography
Students referenced photo ads found in magazines, while also creating sketches. The sketching took a more classical approach, while the images found in magazines presented a modern edge. To emphasize this, and give a strong foundation of value varieties found within the face, students used white pencil on black paper to break down the areas of value.
