This week we will be creating adorable Sewn Heart Valentines together! We'll go over the basics of sewing, and then use a variety of yarn and thread to create lovely patterns and designs on our leaves! For little ones, we will use a hole punch and "string" thicker yarn through the holes to decorate. If you don't have a large plastic sewing needle for your little one (between 4-6 y/o), they can use a hole punch, yarn, and paint to personalize their creations. They will stay "fresh" for up to 3 days, and make extra heart-felt and sweet Valentine's Day gifts for family, friends, and neighbors!
*Parent assistance might be needed to help tie knots for little ones.
Please take a nature walk before the start of class to collect your leaves (see more info about leaves, below).
Here are the supplies you'll need for this week's sesh:
8-10 flat, fresh leaves. Tip: look for ones that are a bit thicker and gather a variety of different kinds of leaves ***only fresh leaves will work for this project, so please pick them right off the tree!***
sewing needle (large metal one or large plastic needle for younger kiddo's)
sewing thread, embroidery thread, yarn, string (any variation / colors you'd like!)
black sharpie (thin if you have it)
scotch tape
hole punch
scissors
paint pens or acrylic paint (if painting: water / drying cloth / detail brush)
optional: beads, glitter, stickers
